Press Release:
JACKSON AND EATINGER NAB POLLUTERS PLUS TOURNAMENT

Brian Jackson (Dyer, IN) and Jeff Eatinger (Lowell, IN) had a total weight of 11.22 lbs. to win the Angler’s Choice Southern Lake Michigan Division tournament on Sunday August 8th. The pair also lost about two hours of fishing time as they filled out U.S. Coast Guard environmental reports after witnessing an incident along the industrial shores of Indiana.

As the two were fishing they witnessed someone on the shore pouring a black oily unknown chemical into the lake. Though it is not clear which company was guilty of this infraction, Brian and Jeff were quite disturbed at what they witnessed and felt it was their duty to report the incident to the U.S. Coast Guard, which responded promptly. As of this writing, we have not obtained the official report as this incident is still under investigation.

Despite this set back, Jackson declared “This definitely cost us about two hours fishing time, but was well worth every minute due to the impact that this may have on our fishery.” He went on to note that “we culled one fish before we were due to weigh in” and the pound difference paid off with their first tournament win of the year. Jeff stated that “We were moving a lot picking up a fish here and there, and basically used two baits…a Bandit crank bait in root beer color, and a green with purple flake tube on deep walls and discharge currents.” The win was worth $730, and helped the team in the overall yearly standings.

We at EDB Bass Service and U.S. Angler’s Choice commend the efforts of these two anglers for taking the time out of their tournament day to report this incident. “Without us keeping a keen eye on situations such as these, and all us doing our part to report incidents, our resources would surely suffer with devastating consequences”. Edward D. Bohn President & Tournament Director.

Rounding out the field of teams in the money includes $290 Dino Ek (Perry, MO) and Butch Opyt (Dalton, IL) for second place. Dave Trombetta (Hammond, IN) and Joel Vogel (Hammond, IN) took $40 plus a $25/$50 gift certificate from the Fishing Connection, Tinley Park, IL. The Toad Award of $100 went to Rob Ronger (Hobart, IN) and J. Maschenik (Lake Placid, FL).

EDB Bass Service will be checking into the report filed by Jackson and Eatinger, and keep all informed of what transpires.
