Adams and Myers Rock and Roll to Victory
With Southern Lake Michigan doing a dance with three to five foot wave the team of Dave Adams (Schererville, IN) and Mike Myers (St. John, IN) played it to there advantage by staying close to the area. The two fished mostly within sight of the ramp by pitching non-weighted Senko’s to the big rock break walls of the protected Calumet Harbor. “At times we would get wet from the overspray of the pounded waves that were hitting the outside break walls. We did leave for a few hours to see if it was possible to fish one of our other spots, but we only fished there for about an hour” said Myers.
Adams added by saying that they pitched their baits into the rocks and moss and let the current passing thought carry the bait out as it fell. The hit would come most times on a slack line and you really had to concentrate on watching you line for the subtle hint of a bite. The two’s five fish limit weigh of 12.34 lbs. was just enough to over take the team of Dave Trombetta (Hammond, IN) and Joel Vogel (Hammond, IN) who had 12.12 lbs with their 5 fish limit. We made the run east and fished a lot of Indiana water today had a few come off that would have helped us, but that’s fishing said Trombetta.
Adams & Myers victory was worth $860.00 and Trombetta & Vogel 2nd place finish eared $283.00 for there close effort. Third place ($32.00) and the Toad Award ($100.00) went to the team of Brent Skrzekut (Hammond, IN) and Mike Hoese (Crown Point, IN) with four fish that weighed 8.94 lbs. This “The Toad Award” (3.60 lbs) was the team’s second this year.
