June 13, 2004 – The fifth qualifying tournament for U.S. Angler's Choice NW Alabama was held on Wilson Lake out of Fleet Harbor. Scattered showers kept temperatures cooler most of the day for the thirty three teams that competed in the tournament.

1 st place – Chris Aston and Dustin Pulkkinen fished a variety of spinnerbaits and senkos (green pumpkin) around boat docks in 6 – 8 foot water. The only five keepers they caught landed them in first place with a total weight of 14.57 lbs. Their limit was anchored by a 5.68 largemouth that took the big bass honors as well. Chris and Dustin pocketed $1440 for the win and added another $320 for the big bass.

2 nd place – Wendall Ketchum and Bryan True boated five fish on black and blue jigs around shallow weedbeds. Their five fish limit weighed 14.10 lbs and gave them an extra $720.

3 rd place – Gene Logan and Kevin Aston landed five fish that weighed in at 12.61 lbs. Texas rigged brush hogs in deep water and green pumpkin jigs around shallow weeds made them $510 richer.

Fourth place went to Jimmy Arnold and Todd Rackley who had 5 fish weighing 12.46 lbs. Fifth place went to Richard Wallace and Jeff Skelton with 5 fish 12.27 lbs.

Current points leaders in the Anglers of the Year, Ellis Taylor and Stanley Taylor maintained their lead over Tony Hayes and Daniel Moody. With only two tournaments remaining the Taylors have a 23 point lead over Hayes and Moody.

The next tournament is scheduled for July 18 on Pickwick Lake, McFarland Harbor. For more info call: 256-370-7744 or 256-389-8670.
