Baker And RobertsTake NW Alabama 2nd Event
By Tommy Milstead
The second stop on the
NW Alabama Angler's Choice Team Trail pulled into Goose
Pond Colony in Scottsboro, AL. Tony Baker and Gene Roberts
landed five fish that weighed 20.63 lbs to earn the
win on Guntersville Lake. Taking advantage of an early
deep water bite, they netted their best two fish on
deep crankbaits within the first ten minutes of fishing.
After that they went to grass lines around 5 foot water
in "backwater flats" with green pumpkin lizards
and red Rat-L-Traps.
Second place and the Big
Bass went to Tony Hayes and Daniel Moody. Their 6.79
lb largemouth bested several other six pounders and
anchored their limit of 19.47 lbs. Fishing a slower
pattern than most, Hayes and Moody made long casts in
shallow water with tubes, jigs, and senkos.
Rounding out the top five
were Ellis Taylor and Stanley Taylor who weighed in
18.12 lbs for third place. Mike Davis and Van Schwendimann
finished fourth with 17.85 lbs. Keith Moore and Marty
Kobeck brought in 17.67 lbs for fifth place.
In the Anglers of the Year standings, Ellis Taylor and
Stanley Taylor moved into the top sport with 226.11
points. Ronnie Rogers and Marty Rogers are in second
with 214.44 points.
