The sixth qualifying tournament
for U.S. Angler's Choice NW Alabama Team Trail was held
on Wheeler Lake. Butch Yarbrough and D.D. Murphy weighed
in a five fish limit for a total of 20.03 lbs. "We
stayed in one spot all day", claimed Yarbrough.
Their fish bit on a 3/8 ounce black and blue jig fished
around the milfoil in 4 to 5 foot water. For their first
place finish, Yarbrough and Murphy pocketed $1490 plus
a $1000 BassCat Bonus Bucks certificate toward the purchase
of a new BassCat boat.
Philex Daniel and Larry
Crutcher turned in a strong 2nd place weight of 18.35
lbs. They also were fishing in the milfoil with black/blue
jigs in 4 to 5 foot water. Daniel and Crutcher won $590
3rd place went to the team
of Mike Davis and Van Schwendimann with 15.81 lbs, including
the big bass of the day with a 5.07 lb largemouth. They
took home $465 and the top spot in the Angler of the
Year standings.
Only one tournament remains
to determine who goes the Southeastern Reginonal Championship.
The final tournament is scheduled for August 24, 2003
on Wilson/Pickwick Lakes. Weigh will take place at Fleet
Harbor, Muscle Shoals, AL. For more information contact:
