2/23/03-Tony Johnson (Loretto
TN) and Barry Gillespie (Loretto TN) topped the field
in the 1st qualifying tournament of U.S. Anglers Choice
NW Alabama Team Trail on Guntersville Lake. Johnson
and Gillespie hauled in their five fish limit that weighed
18.04 lbs on black and blue jigs. The first place team
took home $1340.
Phillip Nunnelley (Cullman)
and Eddie Woods (Cullman) weighed in 17.99 lbs with
a five fish limit that took 2nd place and $670. Nunnelley
and Woods caught their fish on a Davis ProVibe spinnerbait
shad colored.
3rd place went to the team
of Steve Hand (Muscle Shoals) and Kenneth Hand (Tuscumbia)
with a five fish limit that weighed 17.00 lbs. They
were fishing a red RatLTrap around the grass edges in
5 to 10 foot water. Third place paid out $575.
Big bass went to the team
David Daily and David Gray with a nice 6.78 lb largemouth
that was caught on a LB's Lures 3/8 oz black and blue
jig. Big bass paid $400.
The next qualifying tournament
for the NW Alabama region will be held March 23, 2003
on Pickwick Lake out of McFarland Harbor. For more information
