December 14, 2003 Lake of
Egypt, Il
Jelley
and Clark Win Illinois/Winter 3rd Event
As teams awoke most were greeted with snow
and brisk temperatures as eighteen strong willed men decided
to make the trip to the lake. The snow stopped just before
launch but the temperature did not reach above 30 degrees
during tournament hours. Most who are familiar with Lake
Egypt and the winter fishing know that this type of weather
can produce some of your best fishing as five of the nine
teams braving the elements brought limits to the scales.
On this day it would take nearly seventeen pounds to take
the win and all eyes were on the team known as the ones
to beat, Danny Clark and Mark Jelley had been the victors
in the first two events and showed their dominance on the
lake once more as they hoisted their bag weighing 16.67lbs
to the scales. Danny and Mark have accomplished something
rarely seen in circuit fishing by winning their third event
in a row. The team fished jigs in water depths of six to
twelve feet to catch their fish. Stumps located around grass
lines were the targets they keyed upon. They also had the
big bass of the tournament weighing 4.32lbs and the team
earned checks totaling $1,100.00 for the day. The team is
sponsored by Pyramid Acres. Great Job Guys!
