Oakley CA, - Big Break Marina played host for the US Anglers Choice California Delta Region 7th event of the year as the team of Don Whitney and Ken Schmitt as anglers scrambled for position for the Northwestern Regional Championships October 16-19 at Lake Oroville California.

Whitney and Schmitt brought in a beautiful 5-fish limit, which was anchored by the big fish of the event a 9.52-pound kicker. The pair didn't have a fish until after 11 am. Sticking with it paid off as they tossed spinnerbaits, flipped Brush Hogs and tossed frogs. The kicker fish came about 1pm on a frog. There 26.11-pound sack earned them $1,490.

In second place with a beautiful bag weighing 23.19 pounds, the team of Steve Flanders and Mike Saso. The pair's earned them $590 for their efforts. There bag included a 9.05 pound kicker fish. They used a combination of Buzzbaits and frogs to finish their limit.

The welcome mat was out for first time Anglers Choice team participants of Bill Martin and Todd Fedderson put together a solid limit, a big fish of 16.12 pounds. Fedderson and Martin were happy to get out and get some fishing in and earn $465 dollars along the way.

Fourth place Steve Sapp and John Varanai although they were disappointed with their day as things were tough they did put together 16.00 pounds. They secured the Angler of the years title in doing so. The pair have led the points race for much of the season and now have won there first ever Angler of the Year Title. Rounding out the top five was Mark Mello and Marty Warner with 13.99 pounds.

Big Break Marina once again hosted the event, be suree to come down and check out the New "Angler's Cove" Store (925-679-3215) at the facility. The addition of the tackle shop makes the Big Break Marina again one of the most complete facilities any where on the Delta. Now having a full service tackle store on the water anglers are already starting to show up to grab those needed supplies.
