Dark clouds and rain were
there to meet the anglers on the morning
of the tournament, with the forecast for the rest of
the day to be even
gloomier. After a cold and wet blastoff, somehow the
weather
prognosticators had been wrong and the skies opened
up to a mostly
sunny day.
The big bags of fish came
out of the Willamette River, a tributary of
the Columbia River. Points and cuts were the secret
to the bass on this
day.
Renaud Pelletier and Jim
Brinkerhoff took First Place with a sack that
weighed 20.68 lbs.. In that sack was also the Big Fish
of the tourney weighing
5.26 lbs.. Second through forth were only separated
by three tenths of a pound.
The difference between second and third being the slimmest
of margins,
one one hundredth of a pound. Allen Manuel and Jim Manuel
finished
in Second Place with 14.76 lbs.. Tug Cox and Jason Smith
came in Third
Place with 14.75 lbs..
