Angler's Choice will not be holding Pro Am tournaments for 2008. We do not believe that it is not in the best interest of our organization or the anglers to hold Pro Am events this season. There are several reasons behind this decision. The first of which is scheduling conflicts. In order to host 3 events on Oroville, Clear Lake and/or the Delta we would have to place our tournament on top of another circuit's event or pre-fish. If we avoided all other major events and trade shows the events would be held during times of the year where fishing is really bad and/or unhealthy for the fishery to have a large contest during that time frame.
Another factor we took into high consideration is the state of the economy and financial burden Pro/Am style events places on the anglers. Although there are many anglers that can afford and are willing to take on this financial burden we know there are many who can't and won't. This we believe will keep the field sizes smaller and therefore hurt the anglers willing to financially make a commitment to a circuit like this.
Please accept our sincerest apology and know that we are looking to 2009 as a possible return date for the Pro Ams. Maybe even with a new twist or two. In the meantime, we are working on a special super teams event or two for 2008. Information will be posted on these events as it becomes available.
