100% BASS   Press Release

Clear Lake 08/16 - Father and Son Top WRL Field during summer bite

Again, the weather proved to be another hot day at Clear Lake for our fifth event of the season for the Western Rookie League Division of 100% Bass.  Despite soaring temperatures then to a little overcast with slightly, very slightly cooler temperatures for our Clear Lake tournament, nothing unusual for the month of August; this did not stop the Cramer team as they conquered this half day event!

One of the younger members of 100% Bass, Kody Cramer and his dad Kenny won this event.  As luck would have it, not only did the Cramer men win the tournament but Lori Cramer won a nice paycheck at a casino while playing “Wheel of Fortune” so needless to say, Clear Lake paid off for the Cramer family this weekend!  Kody and Kenny of Elk Grove came to the scales with a nice bag of bass that weighed 20.80 lbs.  They had Fifth Big Fish of the event which weighed 6.73 lbs giving them $2120 for their efforts.  They drop shotted and flipped for their bass.  They told everyone they fished on the south end of the lake using Zoom Trick Worms, jigs with Robo Kickin’ Craw Trailers.  Congratulations to our First Place Team in the Large Boat Division!

The team of Michael J. Mc Donald from Novato and Bill Godwin from Vineburg, told everyone the bass they caught were on jigs and Robo’s.  Their nice limit was anchored by the Fourth Place Big Fish of this tournament that weighed 7.16 lbs added to their bag; the total weight of 19.36 lbs gave them Second Place in this event.  They took home a nice payday of $1290 for our second half day tournament of the year.

Third Place was the team of Troy Fleming and Casey Rhyme. Despite the high gas prices, this team drove here from Reno, Nevada, where they both live.  They fished near Rattle Snake Island for their nice limit also using jigs.  Their bass weighed in at 19.14 lbs anchored by the Third Big Fish which weighed 7.72 lbs and giving them $950 in winnings to fill up their rig on the way home!

Bill Talley of Suisun City and Mike Nicolai of Fairfield came in Fourth Place for our last Clear Lake event of the season.  Their bass weighed in at 18.46 lbs.  Their largest bass was a nice one however at 5.40 lbs, she didn’t weigh enough to make it into the Big Fish category.  For their efforts, they took home $525.

In Fifth Place, the team of RC Stephens and Sal Re who had a nice limit weighing 18.18 lbs.  They took home $375 for their time on the water.

Coming in Twelfth Place overall and taking First Place Big Fish was the team of Keith Pineo and Matt Monaghan.  Their Big Fish was a toad that weighed 7.87 lbs.  What a beauty!  They brought to the scales four bass but with the weight of that toad, they took home winnings of $725 for their day!

The Second Big Fish of the day went to the team of Steve and Dennis Hoover from Discovery Bay.  Their largest bass was weighed 7.76 lbs and added to their other bass, their total weight was 17.49 lbs giving them Seventh Place overall and $515 in winnings.

In the Small Boat Division, the team of Jeff Hardin and Paul Eusey brought in four bass.  Even though it was tough for them, their weight was 10.77 lbs overall.  They received trophies for their effort.  This team has quite a collection of trophies that they have received throughout this season.  Great job guys!

Just out of the money in Fourteenth Place was the team of Pat Mateo and Zane Wiley who had five bass weighing in at 15.23 lbs and giving them both Bass Angler’s Guide Magazines, one of  our sponsors.

For our 20-20 Award, there was a tie for Twentieth Place with a weight of 14.19 lbs.  The teams of GP Gand & Kevin Pate and Barbara & Weldon Birch were tied.  Barbara and Weldon won the Eye Surrender Sun Glasses for being present.  Wes Stevener, owner of Eye Surrender could not be there to hand out the sunglasses because of boat motor trouble so Randy was honored to hand them out.

In Thirtieth Place, there was another tie between two teams; Todd Goodman and Dave Barker plus the team of Wes Stevener and Tim Little won the sponsor bags but Wes wanted to donate theirs to the TOC!  Todd and Dave were not present to win theirs so their bags will also go to the TOC.

Rod Smith and Marc Hale took Fortieth Place and were present to win their “goodie bags” from the sponsors who support 100% Bass.  Their four bass weighed 10.48 lbs.

Larry Hutton and Brian Vieau came in Fiftieth Place giving them sponsor bags as well.  They had two bass which weighed 4.83 lbs.

To all of the teams who consist of adults and your kids/ teens, I would like to say thank you for fishing 100% Bass together.  Not only are you taking the time to show your kids/ teens the sport of bass fishing, you are sharing special moments together.  My hat’s off you all of you!
